Exploring the earth has always been a fascination and need for mankind. Consequentially, several minerals, precious metals, rock salt, limestone and new sources of non-renewable energy like petroleum and natural gas were discovered and extracted for human consumption. Random mining and non organized drilling processes are replaced by organized processes like initial analysis, execution of the plan and reallocation of the location for other purposes. Even though improved instrumentation techniques have reduced the risk factors and ensure safety of the employees, drilling and mining have short term as well as long term impact on the environment. In addition to exhausting the energy sources, the mining and drilling procedures contaminate the environment.
