The followers of Islam are called Muslims and they follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. The meaning of Muslim is one who surrenders to the Lord. Presently, Islam is the second largest religion in the world. Muslims consider the Quran and Sunnah as sacred and believes that god has disclosed the Holy Quran to Prophet Muhammad through Gabriel, the angel. There are many practices to be followed in Islam which includes Five Pillars of Islam and the Islamic law, which covers all aspects of life. Shi’a and Sunni are the two main groups in Islam. Islam holds the fundamental belief that there is only one god and they consider Muhammad as god’s messenger.
