Issuing coupons is a marketing strategy adopted by both the manufacturers and the retailers in order to promote the sales. While making a purchase, the consumer can avail a discount for the items purchased in exchange for the coupons. The coupons are usually distributed through mail, papers, magazines and recently, also through internet and cell phones. Printable coupons evoked a lot of fraudulent attempts from the consumer side and due to that reason; most of the retailers have stopped accepting such printable coupons. Most of the discounts are aimed to promote sales on a short term basis, to reward the important customers and also to sell out out-of-date stocks.
